Education Services for the Family

With certified teachers on staff and a wide variety of services available Northwoods Education Services is able to meet your families education needs.

In case you were wondering if we do it, the answer is probably yes. If we don’t we can help you find the right person for that need. Here we go with a list of what we are able to do: Special Education Advocacy/training in the IEP process, Tutoring/Compensatory Services, Respite Care, Care Coordination, help navigating the mental health care system and many more services are available.

Special Education Advocacy/Training in the IEP process– Sometimes schools don’t do what they should be doing in serving students with special needs. We come in and first go over all the necessary background information on your child. Then we write letters and attend meetings to make sure your child gets the services they need in school. We then train you to work as your own advocate.

Tutoring and compensatory services– Sometimes your child might be behind and need some help catching up. With decades of experience in Special Education our staff is able to help meet those academic needs and help your child grow back towards doing grade level work. Comnpensatory services are when a school agrees to pay for services that they did not provide under the IEP. Compensatory Services are often awarded after a mediation.

Respite Care– We are able to help you find providers for respite and other similar types of care. Our providers are experienced in working with children and highly trained in your child’s specific needs.

Care Coordination– Children with multiple and severe disabilities often have 10+ different providers that they work with from paraprofessionals and respite workers all the way to specialist physicians. For our care coordination services we take information from providers and create easy to use documents to share information around so that all people providing services are on the same page. We have experience providing these services to kids with a wide variety of needs.

Mental Health Care System Navigation– It’s hard to know who to call or whom to go to when your child is experiencing a mental health crisis. We have experience with local providers and we are able to help you navigate this system as quickly as possible. Our staff has lived experience navigating this system as well as experience helping countless of families get the help they need from local resources.
